Privacy policy
MyKitchen has no user accounts. Your inventory, preferences, recipes, meal plans and shopping list are saved on your device. In the phone app, saved files are also included in your device backups according to your Apple settings.
Sharing a kitchen
Sharing is optional. Your device encrypts the shared kitchen before sending it to MyKitchen's Cloudflare server. The key is carried in the private invite link; anyone with that link can read and change the shared kitchen. Owner keys control certain administrative actions. Keep invite links private. Diet preferences and cooking ratings remain on your device.
Barcode lookups
An unfamiliar barcode may be sent to MyKitchen, Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central. Your barcode corrections stay on this phone and are not submitted to a public product list. Items you add to a shared kitchen are visible to that household through encrypted sync. Requests include a random installation identifier and services receive network information such as an IP address. Public barcode lookups do not publish your corrections.
Receipt scanning
In the iPhone app, Apple Vision reads a receipt photo on your device. On supported devices with Apple Intelligence available, Apple’s on-device Foundation Models also help distinguish foods from other purchases and interpret descriptions. This processing runs locally, with no cloud AI fallback. Suggestions still require your review. MyKitchen does not upload receipt images or raw recognized text to an OCR service or its server. Images and receipt-review text are temporary; close the review to discard them. Selecting a photo stored only in iCloud may require Apple to download it. Only food details you confirm, such as names, quantities and item costs, are saved to your pantry. Shared kitchens sync those confirmed entries and compact duplicate markers through the existing encrypted sharing system. Receipt images, payment details and raw receipt text are not included in kitchen backups or shared product confirmations.
Feature requests
Sending a feature request is optional. It sends only the words you write, the part of the app you pick and the app version. It never includes your kitchen, shopping list or invite link. To enforce the weekly limit, the server keeps a one-way code made from your shared household (or, if you don't share, a random installation identifier). Requests are read by the MyKitchen team and deleted after review, and always within 90 days.
Sharing a recipe with the cookbook
Sharing a recipe is optional. When you tap Share to the cookbook, the app sends only that recipe (name, description, cuisine, time, servings, ingredients and steps), the credit name you choose (or none) and the app version. It never sends your kitchen, shopping list, other recipes or invite link. To enforce the daily limit and show you its status, the server keeps a one-way code made from your shared household (or, if you don't share, a random installation identifier). Every recipe is reviewed by a person. Approved recipes are published in the MyKitchen Home cookbook and on its website under CC BY-SA 4.0 with your chosen credit. Declined recipes may be deleted at any time. To have a shared recipe removed, email support@mykitchenhomeapp.com.
Recipe updates and announcements
The app checks MyKitchen's website for new or corrected recipes and for the featured recipe. These checks send no kitchen data. The website receives normal web-request information.
Native features
Camera access is used for receipt, barcode and invite scanning. Notifications and Lock Screen shopping lists are optional. A shared-kitchen key may be backed up to iCloud Keychain using your Apple settings. Siri items wait on your device until the app opens. Test and production app data are stored separately.
Other services
The website can load fonts and scanning libraries from Google Fonts, unpkg and jsDelivr. Those services receive normal web-request information. AI Chef is switched off by default on the app and server. If enabled in a future version, its data use will be described before use.
Keeping and removing data
You can save a backup file in Settings. Clearing website data or deleting the app can remove local data. Leaving a shared kitchen keeps your local copy; kitchen owners can reset the shared link to delete the old server kitchen and its restore points. Other household members and exported backup files may retain copies.
